Commanders' offense gets good news ahead of Monday Night Football

When the Washington Commanders ruled wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown out over the weekend, it was not a surprise. Monday’s game against the Chicago Bears will be the third consecutive game that both receivers have missed. However, fellow wideout Deebo Samuel was also on the injury report and head coach Dan Quinn said his injury could come down to Monday before the game.

Good news. Samuel will be on the field for the Commanders on Monday against the Bears. Lisa Salters, who will be on the sidelines for ABC/ESPN for Monday Night Football, relayed to Adam Schefter that Samuel is expected to play.

That should come as no surprise, considering Samuel missed practice time with the heel injury ahead of the Week 5 game against the Chargers. Not only did Samuel play, but he was outstanding, catching eight passes for 96 yards and a touchdown.

The Bears are still without top cornerback Jaylon Johnson, but do get Kyler Gordon back for Monday night. Gordon could see plenty of Samuel.

Samuel, who was acquired for a fifth-round draft pick, has 30 receptions for 300 yards and three touchdowns. He also has a rushing touchdown and is among the league leaders in kickoff return average. Samuel has returned fewer kicks recently with McLaurin and Brown out. Wide receiver Luke McCaffrey has filled that role for Washington.
