The Oklahoma City Thunder made a pair of roster moves on Monday as they enter the back half of their 2025-26 preseason schedule.
The Thunder have waived Viktor Lakhin and then signed Payton Sandfort. Both players have dealt with injuries. They also went undrafted out of the 2025 NBA draft. These are moves to acquire their G League rights and add them to the OKC Blue.
Lakhin spent four college seasons at Cincinnati and Clemson. He sustained a torn ligament in his foot in May 2025. That sidelined him for three-plus months. Despite not being able to suit up, the Thunder still added him to their 2025 Summer League roster. He was signed to training camp on Sunday, but his tenure only lasted a day.
Similar circumstances for Sandfort. He spent four college seasons at Iowa. He had double-torn labrum surgeries in May 2025. That’s sidelined him since. Despite not being able to suit up, the Thunder still added him to their 2025 Summer League roster.
This is part of the training camp and preseason process. The Thunder have signed a handful of players to Exhibit 10 deals to gain their G League rights. While only one will likely get the final two-way spot, the rest should be added to the Blue’s roster for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
