Through five games, the Oregon Ducks‘ offense appeared unstoppable at times. They were one of the top scoring teams in the nation thanks to strong offensive line play, accurate passing from quarterback Dante Moore and a four-headed rushing attack that always seemed up to the task whenever called upon.
But Week 7 looked nothing like the first month-plus for the Ducks.
In came the Indiana Hoosiers, equipped with one of the best scoring defenses in the nation. Still, there were questions over how legitimate it was, as their schedule had been far from difficult.
As it turns out, the Hoosiers’ defense is for real. Oregon managed less than 100 yards in the second half and was held to a season-low 267 yards overall. That mark had been close to the Ducks‘ average for both rushing and passing yards per game, much less total yards.
The offense converted just three of 14 third-down opportunities and scored just three points in the second half. In all, it was a massively disappointing offensive performance with the college football world tuning in.
