Even though the Oklahoma City Thunder had a short three-month offseason, they’re ready to get back to it. They’ll enter the 2025-26 regular season as the NBA champion, which means they should expect the rest of the league to circle their matchups against them.
As the Thunder continue along with training camp and preseason, several players on the roster hope to leap in their personal development. It’s a luxury the NBA champion has with the sixth-youngest roster in the league still. Several players are still on the uphill climb of their basketball journey.
Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault broke down the training camp takeaways he’s still so far. He went one by one on players who have stuck out to him in a vacuum with their improvements:
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander:
“Shai, some of his subtleties as a playmaker.”
Isaiah Hartenstein:
“Hartenstein’s body looks bigger. Coming into the season.”
Chet Holmgren:
“Chet physically and game-wise.”
Cason Wallace:
“Cason Wallace’s game.”
Jaylin Williams:
“J-Will obviously. Really tighten his body up.”
Ajay Mitchell:
“Ajay Mitchell looks stronger, physically.”
Lu Dort:
“Dort came in his best body comp in five years, I think.”
