The New York Giants improved to 2-4 on the season following a stunning and dominating victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night at MetLife Stadium. It was a win that ended many negative streaks for Big Blue and revitalized both the team and the fan base.
An equally exciting weekend transpired, as we’ll much on momentarily, thrusting the Giants back into the hunt for the NFC East crown, which seemed like a distant dream just a few short weeks ago.
The Giants will hope to carry that momentum over into Week 7 when they hit the road to take on the Denver Broncos and their vaunted defense.
With the seventh game just around the corner, here’s a look at the pulse of Giants fans, analysts, and former players.
Major fine incoming
After rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart took a big hit on Thursday night and was slow to get up, trainers sent him into the blue medical tent for an evaluation. What transpired was a complete and total meltdown courtesy of head coach Brian Daboll.
Dabes not only entered the tent, violating league policy, but he also blew up on team physician Scott Rodeo, later issuing an apology.
Compounding matters, after seeing his coach enter the blue medical tent, rookie running back Cam Skattebo did the same. The rule violation prompted a league-wide memo and a joint investigation with the NFLPA into the Giants’ application of concussion protocol.
While interviews are ongoing, the Giants are reportedly bracing for a “hefty fine.” Some have suggested the team could also lose draft picks, but FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer stresses it will be a fine only.
“The Giants are bracing for a fine as a result of this right now. There’s a joint investigation between the NFL and NFLPA underway. As you said, when it comes to concussion protocol, they don’t mess around, but they’ve already talked to Brian Daboll,” Glazer said. “They’re not going to do draft picks.”
The entire situation has elicited varying responses from reporters, former players, and fans. However, most seem to support a serious punishment.
The @NFL and @NFLPA need to send a strong message to Brian Daboll. Under no circumstances can he do what he did to the team doctors. No coach should ever go in the blue tent especially if it has to do with a concussion. Really bad look for the NFL. Big fine!!!

In all seriousness I expect the league says something to Daboll about staying out of the tent and not pressuring the staff during their concussion evaluation. It’s good that coaches care but they need to give the medical team space and avoid implying pressure to clear him https://t.co/h3Ojf81EVx

I hope the NFL punishes Giants HC Brian Daboll for charging into the medical tent where his QB Jaxon Dart was being examined. That is no man’s land for a coach. It was also brings back the macho mentality that you play injured or not

Riding high over the weekend
For Giants fans, Sunday morning was a blessing — and a rare one at that. Not only did Big Blue knock off their chief rivals and defending Super Bowl champions on Thursday night, but they did so in dominating fashion.
When the rest of the NFL prepared to kick off on Sunday, Giants fans were kicking back and relaxing, awaiting a stress-free day of football.
Then the magic happened. Every other NFC East team lost.

Barkley situation lingers…
Amazon Prime released a brand new documentary, “Saquon,” on Thursday night as the Giants and Eagles squared off. The timing of the release was largely due to expectations that Saquon Barkley and the Eagles would take it to the Giants.
Whoops.
While that didn’t go as planned, the documentary still hit the airwaves and highlighted the ugly divorce between Barkley and the Giants. Similar to “Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants,” it painted Big Blue and general manager Joe Schoen in a negative light.
The Saquon Barkley Doc from @PrimeVideo is amazing.
Eagles fans will love it.

Giants fans quickly pushed back, aided by the reality that their defense had shut Barkley down on the night he and Amazon expected to embarrass them.
Saquon Barkley and his reps thought it would be a great idea to release his documentary about how the Giants hurt his feelings, on a night they expected to roll over and embarrass his former team.

Speaking of lingering…
The Indianapolis Colts are 5-1 behind quarterback Daniel Jones, who has emerged as a potential MVP candidate (top 5 in some sportsbooks). He accounted for three touchdowns in Week 6 and remains one of the NFL’s most prolific passers.
Some Giants fans hate DJ’s sudden success, while others are celebrating it.
watching Daniel Jones play football on this Colts team is ELECTRIC

When DJ was struggling with the Giants, the argument was “he should raise the game of his supporting cast.” Poor personnel was an unacceptable excuse.
Now that DJ is excelling, the argument is: “It’s all because of his supporting cast and the Colts’ personnel.”
Got it. https://t.co/cYJV0Otdu7

The early success of rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has helped alleviate some of the pressure New York would have felt if Jones were dominating and they had no answer at QB, but it’s still a poor look for Daboll and the current regime.
If the Giants can find any solace, it’s that most NFL experts also believed Jones would flop in Indy.
