In the playoffs, Randy Arozarena turns into Babe Ruth.
Seriously. That’s what the numbers say about the Seattle Mariners outfielder.
OptaStats shared this gem before Game 3 of the ALCS on Wednesday:
“Randy Arozarena has reached base 62 times and has 84 total bases in his 35 postseason starts. The only other MLB players to reach both those marks through 35 career postseason starts are Carlos Beltran, Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth.”
Ruth and Gehrig, of course, are two of the most legendary players to ever step onto a baseball diamond.
Beltran is known as the postseason monster of this generation.
And then you’ve got Arozarena.

He took the baseball world by storm in his Tampa Bay Rays days, when he led them to a World Series appearance in 2020.
And now back in the dance with the Mariners, Arozarena remains as dangerous as ever.
The Mariners have an incredibly deep lineup, but it all starts at the top with Arozarena. He may not be a traditional leadoff hitter, but he fits there in the modern game thanks to the immense danger he presents to opposing pitchers every time he swings the bat.
Seattle has a 2-0 lead in the ALCS. The Mariners are two wins away from their first-ever appearance in the World Series.
If Arozarena does his usual postseason brilliance routine, the Mariners have a great chance to indeed make it to the Fall Classic.
