Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald called wide receiver Cooper Kupp a “force multiplier” during his postgame press conference on Sunday.
“Icing on the cake.”

While newcomer Kupp started his Seahawks tenure slowly on the stat sheet, his intangibles have helped Seattle win football games since Week 1. PFF has given him good-to-great grades in every game since, and his season grade sits at 76.8- ranking 21st out of all 170 WRs who’ve appeared this season.
He scored his first touchdown for the team in Week 6, the only 3rd down conversion of their 12 chances on the day. That touchdown also vaulted him into an exclusive club of football players in the state of Washington. Only six other players have scored touchdowns for Washington-based teams at the high school, collegiate and NFL level.
His presence is felt by the fanbase, immediately becoming a fan favorite after leaving the division rival Los Angeles Rams in a way few other players could. It sounds as though his presence in the locker room provides value beyond his stats, too- as Macdonald mentioned, “he’s one of the biggest reasons why our team is where they’re at right now.” He said that the productivity “is just icing on the cake”.
Despite becoming a superstar offensive player since the Rams drafted him out of Eastern Washington in 2017, Kupp does everything well. He’s one of the best blocking receivers in the league, setting the offensive tone in more ways than other top receivers have, and has helped change the ways the receiver position is scouted in the modern game.
As Kupp continues to multiply the force of the offense, expect Jaxon Smith-Njigba, AJ Barner and Tory Horton’s breakout seasons to grow alongside. But remember that Kupp’s $17.5 million guarantee in 2025 is reflected in more ways than we can see on TV and the box score each week.
