Oak Hill girls soccer player Bella Holly has been named The Register-Herald Athlete of the Week.
Holly scored her 45th goal of the season, setting a new team record. The previous mark was 43, set by Courtney Smith in 2017.
Holly increased that total to 49 with a four-goal game in Tuesday’s 8-1 win over Riverside. She was overtaken by Huntington St. Joe’s Riley Blake, who leads the state with 50 goals.
Holly, with 10 assists, is also second in the state in points with 108. Her goals rank sixth nationally and her points are eighth.
The Red Devils finished the regular season with a 17-2-1 record. They now await seedings for the Class AAAA South Regional tournament that will begin next week.
Independence football player Sylas Nelson won the reader poll with 36.8 percent of the vote.
