As incredible as Texas A&M’s former Heisman Trophy winner was on the gridiron, his wisdom from the experiences and lessons learned along the way is just as valuable as his contributions as an Aggie.
On the latest episode of his Glory Daze Podcast, Johnny Manziel shared an emotional message about mental health, as well as the impacts that being focused on worldly conflicts can have on student-athletes. While his experience with the glory and fame of being an elite quarterback has been most-highlighted by media members and college football fans, Manziel’s comments during his podcast appearances shine a light on everything that student-athletes endure.
This motivational talk from Manziel on the recent episode of his podcast provides incredible advice to those struggling to find the positives in the world, while also giving examples of what he does to escape the negativity and constant conflicts going on around him.

Manziel played for Texas A&M in 2012 and 2013, in which he helped provide national notoriety to the Aggies in the program’s first two seasons in the Southeastern Conference. He became the first freshman in history to capture the Heisman Trophy during a miraculous campaign that featured a win over the Nick Saban-led Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa.
While his professional career did not pan out how he had hoped, his contributions to the Texas A&M program and to people all over the world who view his content have been well-noted. According to the clip of Manziel’s latest episode, he receives messages from people struggling in similar ways with their mental health, which led to the touching message and ideas from the former Texas A&M signal-caller.
Student-athletes as a whole deal with incredible amounts of stress under the bright spotlights produced by the media and fan bases across the country. While we consider them athletes, they are all humans and make mistakes. Manziel’s heartfelt dedication to those struggling with mental health was a touching tribute, as he continues to inspire college athletes and people from all walks of life.
