Fresno Pacific volleyball has yet to lose a game this season.
They’re one of only two teams ranked in this week’s AVCA coaches poll that are still undefeated.
Breaking the top 25 for the first time in 12 years wasn’t a surprise to anyone in the program.
“I had no clue where we were going to be ranked, but I knew we deserved it,” says freshman Madelyn Feramisco.
Feramisco is no stranger to leading a team. A former varsity captain at Clovis East, the FPU freshman leads the Sunbirds in kills and aces this season.
Mikayla Weiss, a Buchanan grad, just notched her 1000th career assist.
The homegrown talent is obvious – the intangibles are what have set this team apart.
“I would say the team culture is different than any other team I’ve been on,” Weiss said. “We all love each other, support each other on and off the court and in every aspect of life.”
Two years ago, coach Kelsee Montagna was handed a program that looked a lot different.
“I knew there needed to be a culture change,” she said.
The small shift in approach led to a bigger shift on the court. A roster filled with Central Valley natives showing up for the program is seeing the Central Valley show up for them.
