The Athletic’s NFL insider Dianna Russini emptied her pre-NFL trade deadline notebook, and included was a nugget about the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Russini would go on to write that the Jaguars are “expected” to get involved in some trades and that they are looking for a defensive player.
Where there is smoke, there is fire, as they say, and there is a lot of smoke around the Jaguars this trade deadline. Ian Rapoport also reported recently that even after acquiring Greg Newsome, the Jaguars “might not be done trading.”
Furthermore, after trading for Newsome, Jaguars’ GM James Gladstone said this in a statement he and the team released:
“We will continue to be aggressive, to make us the best possible team this season,” said James Gladstone.
If the Jaguars are going to make another deal, doing so along the defensive line would seem to be the most likely target. The Jaguars need more pass-rush consistency, especially from the defensive tackle position.
As a collective defense, the Jaguars will enter Week 7 ranked 19th in pressure rate and 28th in sacks.
