For the fourth straight week, the Washington Commanders will be without star wide receiver Terry McLaurin in Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. Head coach Dan Quinn ruled McLaurin out on Friday.
“It’s frustrating for him because he’s working at it hard and with an injury like this, this is a speed player and so on movements where you’re jogging or not, you know, fully there, it’s just not ready yet,” Quinn said.
“And that sometimes happens when you have a soft tissue injury and you’re wanting to get there, but you have to push it at the top speeds. And so sometimes, that’s an acceleration. Sometimes it’s deceleration, how hard you have to plant and turn. So, like I said, he’s working at that hard. He is frustrated, but we’re closer, and as we’ve been going week-to-week, it can be difficult on an injury that you have to test and push at high speed, and you need volume at it, you need reps at it, and it’s good to see him running routes and doing that.”
The good news for Washington is that McLaurin was the only player ruled out. However, the Commanders did list five players as questionable. One of those players is wide receiver Deebo Samuel. Samuel is dealing with a heel injury for the third consecutive week. While he has played in the last two games, the injury clearly impacted him last week.
Also questionable for Washington is defensive end Dorance Armstrong, who leads the team in sacks and is No. 5 in the NFL.

The Cowboys will get back plenty of help on Sunday, as wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and KaVontae Turpin and guard Tyler Booker return after missing multiple games. They return to an offense that was outstanding without them. The Dallas defense did suffer a significant loss when the Cowboys ruled out former All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs with a concussion. This one was a surprise as head coach Brian Schottenheimer revealed an accident at home would sideline Diggs for this game.
