Notre Dame survives a scare from USC, pulls away late to get the rivalry game victory

It was another classic Notre Dame and USC matchup, as the two teams went back-and-forth through three quarters before the Irish pulled away late for a 34-24 victory improving to 5-2 on the year.

Notre Dame star running back Jeremiyah Love was absolutely dominant, rushing 24 times for 228-yards and a score. Teammate Jadarian Price had 87-yards on 13-carries with a score and took a 100-yard kickoff return for another touchdown. Defensively, Christian Gray picked off two passes after getting burned for a touchdown showing incredible resilience.

CJ Carr wasn’t a great as we’ve seen him, but it doesn’t matter much when Love and Price dominate like they did. After the Trojans scored a touchdown on their first possession, the Irish answered as Love raced 63-yards on his first touch of the night. He’d find the end zone his next touch.

The Trojans would take the lead back with a field goal, but Price’s touchdown on the ground would give the Irish the lead back. USC would get another field goal before Carr found Will Pauling for a Notre Dame touchdown.

Another USC field goal followed by a touchdown would give them the lead at 24-21 in the third quarter, but the Irish answered right back. Price took the kickoff back and Notre Dame wouldn’t give the lead back. Carr would run it in from 1-yard out, getting to the final of 34-24.

This is the last game for the Irish this month, as they won’t be back on the field until Nov. 1 as they travel to Boston College.
