Back-up quarterback Jacoby Brissett starred in Kyler Murray’s absence as the Arizona Cardinals beat the Dallas Cowboys 27-17.
The 32-year-old threw for two touchdowns and ran in for a score as the Cardinals ended a five-game losing streak in Arlington, Texas.
Brissett was selected for a third straight week with Murray still unavailable with a foot injury.
“That’s what we do it for. It’s hard to win in the NFL,” Brissett said.
“It’s harder to win on the road. It’s hard when things aren’t going your way and the outside noise drags you other places and stuff like that.
“When you don’t look for the results, the results find themselves, and you’ve just got to rely on the work.”
Despite his performance, Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said “nothing has changed” in regards to Murray being first choice once he’s fit again.
Marvin Harrison had a career-high seven catches for 96 yards, including a four-yarder for the game’s first touchdown, while Trey McBride registered his own.
The Cardinals remain bottom of the NFC West with a 3-5 record, while the Cowboys have a 3-5-1 record and are second in the NFC East.
