Cowboys to acquire Bengals LB Logan Wilson in exchange for 7th-round pick

The Dallas Cowboys made a handful of roster moves prior to their lackluster showing against the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night. Prior to the game, the normal roster shuffle that centers around elevating players from the practice squad included that the club was moving starting linebacker Jack Sanborn to IR. The free agent signing injured his groin in practice this week, and his departure for at least four weeks created a need.

The team hadn’t gotten what they had hoped for in Sanborn, or Kenneth Murray, who they acquired via trade this offseason. Second-year linebacker Marist Liufau has failed to make the progress many projected, and the team has used fifth-round rookie Shemar James to an incredible degree for someone seen as a raw prospect. Come their next game, Dallas will likely feature a brand new duo, as DeMarvion Overshown is set to make his season debut in Week 11 and he’ll be joined by a trade acquisition.

Dallas has traded for Cincinnati Bengals LB Logan Wilson.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones teased that he had at least one trade lined up for deadline day, and Wilson is now on his way to Dallas in exchange for a seventh-round pick.

Wilson is interesting because he has three years remaining on his current deal. He’s set to make $12.6 million across 2026 and 2027, and has around $2.6 million remaining in base salary for the back half of this season. There are also around $1.3 million in bonuses tied to his salary, bringing the total remaining value of his deal to around $16 million.

Wilson has never made a Pro Bowl, but the 28 year old is seen as a solid value. He became a starter in 2021, his second season, and has tallied over 100 tackles each season since.
