If the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to make a move at the NFL trade deadline, what position groups could be on their radar?
CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones recently emptied his trade deadline notebook, sharing his latest nuggets of information on each team.
As it pertains to the Jaguars, Jones called Jacksonville a “wildcard,” noting that there are multiple positions that GM James Gladstone could go after.
“There are a lot of eyes on Jacksonville and first-year GM James Gladstone, who made a splash in trading up for Travis Hunter in April’s NFL Draft,” Jones wrote. “The Jags are looking around the league, and many believe he won’t be afraid to send away more picks to acquire talent. Jacksonville is a bit of a wild card because sources see them going after a receiver, or defensive backfield or interior defensive line.”
The receiver, defensive back, and defensive tackle positions that Jones mentioned, I don’t think are going to catch anyone by surprise when it comes to needs that the Jaguars have.
We recently went into greater detail as to why those specific positions could each be addressed.
In short, the Jaguars need more pass rush juice at the tackle position. The receiver depth, meanwhile, is being tested without Travis Hunter, not to mention that more steady playmaking is needed from this unit.
At defensive back, a priority for Liam Coen during the bye week was figuring out how to better limit explosive plays. A lot of that starts with the safety position, which is now without Eric Murray for at least the next few games.
