New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen opted to stand pat at the NFL trade deadline, neither acquiring nor parting with any players. This decision was particularly surprising, considering the team’s glaring offensive deficiencies — needs that could have bolstered the ongoing development of rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Schoen also passed on opportunities to trade wide receiver Jalin Hyatt and offensive lineman Evan Neal, whom the Las Vegas Raiders reportedly inquired about.
While the market for those two, along with cornerback Deonte Banks, was undoubtedly thin, Schoen surely could have extracted at least a seventh-round pick and a modest pick swap in return. After all, something is almost always better than nothing.
With the NFL trade deadline having come and gone, the Giants neither added nor subtracted from their 2026 NFL draft capital.
Here is their current slate of picks next April:
- Round 1
- Round 2
- Round 4
- Round 5
- Round 6
- Round 6 (via Dallas)
- Round 6 (via Miami)
The Giants do not have a seventh-round pick after it was sent to the Dallas Cowboys as part of the trade for defensive lineman Jordan Phillips. In return, New York secured Dallas’ sixth-round pick. They also traded a conditional 2027 seventh-round pick and tight end Darren Waller to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick.
If Waller, who is currently on injured reserve (IR), hauls in 50-plus receptions this season, the Giants would get that 2027 conditional seventh-round pick back. He currently has 10 receptions.
Additionally, the Giants do not have a third-round pick after it was sent to the Houston Texans as part of the trade to move up and select Dart in the 2025 NFL draft.
