Detroit Tigers 2026 spring training schedule: Grapefruit League begins Feb. 21 in Tampa

Opening Day 2026 is set for March 26.

Before that, the Detroit Tigers will play 29 spring training games ahead of the 2026 regular season.

The 2026 Grapefruit League schedule begins Feb. 21 against the New York Yankees at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida. The Tigers then clash with the Baltimore Orioles on Feb. 22 at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida, for their first home game of spring training.

Pitchers and catchers are expected to report Feb. 11 to spring training.

There are several notable games on the schedule for Florida.

The third annual Spring Breakout prospect game is set for March 20 against the Pittsburgh Pirates at LECOM Park in Bradenton. That same day, the non-prospect Tigers will face the Philadelphia Phillies at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater.

The Tigers will also play an exhibition against Team Panama on March 4 in Lakeland, ahead of the 2026 World Baseball Classic, which begins March 5. The sixth iteration of the WBC, which runs from March 5-17, will feature 20 teams, including Team USA.

The Tigers have just one split-squad day: Feb. 25, when they’ll play the Toronto Blue Jays in Lakeland and the Phillies in Clearwater.

Of the 29 spring games, 15 are scheduled at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, including the final Florida-based spring game March 21 against the Yankees.

Before Opening Day, the Tigers will travel to Arizona for two games to complete their exhibition schedule – March 23-24 against the Colorado Rockies of the Cactus League at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale.

Those two games in Arizona will prepare the Tigers for Opening Day on the West Coast, set for March 26 against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park in San Diego.

The Tigers won’t play their home opener in Detroit until April 3 (at 1:10 p.m.), when they host the St. Louis Cardinals at Comerica Park, following three-game road series against the Padres (March 26-28) and Arizona Diamondbacks (March 30-April 1).
