The first set of College Football Playoff rankings are out and what do you know… the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are ranked #10 — just like in the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll.

All of the talk and all of the parsing what win or what loss means more, and the committee did exactly what they were supposed to do (kind of). The committee ranked the top 25 teams in order of which teams they think are the best RIGHT NOW.

While Irish fans have been wringing their hands for a bit about which of their opponents win games to help their resume, it all worked out just fine — even with two lossess.

Notre Dame has 4 opponents currently ranked:

#3 Texas A&M Aggies
#18 Miami Hurricanes
#19 USC Trojans
#24 Pitt Panthers

With four weeks left inj the regular season, there is still plenty of ways the Irish can creep up enough spots to host a home game — so don’t pay too much attention to the “projected” brackets right now.

Despite being ranked #10, Notre Dame still has the 5th best odds to win the national championship according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

This week the Irish take on Navy and are 25.5 point favorites, and it will be ALL eyes on the Irish to see if they rise to the challenge of dominating Navy — or if they stumble and trip along the way.
