It’s been another tough few days for the Washington Commanders. In Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks — Washington’s fourth straight — quarterback Jayden Daniels dislocated his elbow. It was Daniels’ third injury this season, following knee and hamstring injuries that cost him three games.
Daniels wasn’t the only major injury Washington had on Sunday. Wide receiver/kick returner Luke McCaffrey injured his shoulder on the game’s opening kickoff. On Monday, it was revealed that McCaffrey had a broken collarbone and would be out for the season.
Also injured in Sunday’s game was veteran cornerback Marshon Lattimore. Lattimore injured his knee in the second half after breaking up a pass and immediately went to the sideline. The Commanders ruled him out. On Monday, head coach Dan Quinn confirmed that Lattimore had torn his ACL and was out for the season.
McCaffrey and Lattimore joined a growing list of Commanders out for the season, which includes running back Austin Ekeler and defensive ends Deatrich Wise, Javontae Jean-Baptiste, and Dorance Armstrong, and safety Will Harris. This doesn’t include all the players who’ve missed multiple games, such as Daniels, wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown, tight end John Bates, guard Sam Cosmi and cornerback Jonathan Jones.
On Tuesday, Washington placed McCaffrey and Lattimore on injured reserve. Daniels was not placed on IR, leaving open the possibility he could return later this season.

In a corresponding move, the Commanders signed wide receiver Treylon Burks to the 53-man roster. Burks initially signed with Washington’s practice squad on October 17, with the plan to sign him to the roster at some point this season. Burks, a former Tennessee Titans first-round pick in 2022, made his debut on Sunday, catching one pass for 14 yards.

In another move, the Commanders signed cornerback Tre Hawkins to the practice squad. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Hawkins was a sixth-round pick by the New York Giants in the 2023 NFL draft. New York waived Hawkins during final roster cuts this summer.
