5 snap count observations from Colts' Week 10 depth chart vs. Falcons

The Indianapolis Colts released their unofficial Week 10 depth chart ahead of this week’s matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.

Of course, there was one very noticeable change with the team acquiring Sauce Gardner in a trade with the New York Jets.

But in addition to that, we have a few other depth chart observations to make as we take into account the snap counts from this most recent game, along with the injuries that the Colts are navigating.

Here are several roster notes and a look at where things stand playing time-wise at several positions for the Colts.

– As part of the trade for Gardner, the Colts had to part ways with wide receiver AD Mitchell. Indianapolis now has just five wideouts on the 53-man roster. In Shane Steichen’s offense, it is not often that we see more than three receivers on the field at a time.

– The RB2 role is listed as either Tyler Goodson or DJ Giddens, but those snaps have been shared by Goodson and Ameer Abudallah the last two weeks. Giddens is also the apparent fourth option after being a healthy scratch two times now.

– Not surprisingly, Jaylon Jones is listed as the starter opposite of Sauce Gardner. In his return last Sunday, Jones had a strong performance.

– DeForest Buckner has been ruled out for this game with a neck injury, which means Adetomiwa Adebawore and Neville Gallimore will each take on larger roles. Eric Johnson will provide added defensive tackle depth.

– The Colts continue to navigate injuries at defensive end. Samson Ebukam and Tyquan Lewis have both missed the last two games, and as of Friday morning, neither player has practiced this week. Against Pittsburgh, the Colts relied heavily on Laiatu Latu and Kwity Paye, with JT Tuimoloau and Durell Nchami having minimal roles.
