Fox Sports splits with ex-NFL QB Mark Sanchez after October arrest

Nov. 7 (UPI) — Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez is no longer employed as a Fox Sports analyst after his October arrest, the network told UPI on Friday.

“We can confirm that Mark Sanchez is no longer with the network,” a Fox Sports spokesperson said. “There will be no further comment at this time.”

Fox Sports announced on Friday that longtime former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees joined the network as a game analyst. He will replace Sanchez and join a broadcast crew with Adam Amin and Kristina Pink.

“I appreciate the opportunity Fox has given me in the booth and with their team,” Brees said in a news release. “I hope my passion for this game is reflected in the knowledge and insights I provide to the fans each Sunday.”

Sanchez, who previously worked at ESPN, joined Fox in 2021. He was arrested last month after an alleged attack on a truck driver in Indianapolis. Sanchez, who was stabbed during the incident, spent a week in a hospital.

He faces a felony battery charge, in addition to three misdemeanor charges. His trail is set to start Dec. 11. Sanchez was booked Oct. 12, but remains free on bond.

Brees is to make his Fox debut Nov. 16.

“Drew is one of the best to ever play the game, and we couldn’t be more excited to have his prolific credentials and unique insights as part of our coverage on Sundays,” Fox Sports president of production and operations and executive producer Brad Zager said.

“We’re thrilled to welcome him to the Fox Sports family.”
