Kansas State running back Dylan Edwards will redshirt and miss the remainder of the season with an ankle injury, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. According to the Topeka Capital-Journal’s Wyatt D. Wheeler, Edwards suffered a leg injury earlier in Week 0’s 24-21 loss to Iowa State.
Edwards finished his season with 205 yards and two touchdowns on 34 carries. Most of Edwards’ rushing yards came in Week 5 against the UCF Knights.
The junior running back only played four games this season, making him eligible to redshirt. This will allow him to have another year of eligibility; he’ll have two years of eligibility remaining. According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Edwards will enter the transfer portal.
Kansas State is 4-5 this season. The Wildcats will take on Oklahoma State next weekend, coming off their bye.
This was Edwards’ second year at Kansas State after he spent his first year at Colorado. With Edwards not returning, leading rusher Joe Jackson and quarterback Avery Johnson expect to carry the workload.
