Michigan State basketball is set to host a monster non-conference game on Saturday night, and Graham Couch of the Lansing State Journal is here to break it down and provide his pick in this tilt.
No. 14 Arkansas will come into the Breslin Center on Saturday night for the first true test for the Spartans this year. Michigan State and Arkansas both picked up season-opening wins over mid-major foes earlier this week and will be looking for a marquee win early into the season.
Tipoff for this game is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and will be televised on FOX. At the posting of this article, there is no set betting line for this game.
So does Couch believe the Spartans will pick up a major non-conference win over Arkansas on Saturday? No, he actually likes the road Razorbacks to win this one — here’s a bit of his analysis and reasoning:
“The lead guard battle should be fun, with Fears and Acuff. This will be a taxing assignment for Fears on both ends. Acuff is a quick and powerful athlete, who loves to push the ball and is tough to keep out of the paint. … In the paint, we’ll find out if the Spartans are the rebounding team they appeared to be against Colgate. Arkansas has size and experience down low. Brazile was an ascending player a year ago and appears to have kept that trajectory. Malique Ewin (South Carolina) and Nick Pringle (Florida State) are both proven big guys, too.”
