ACC schools have dominated women’s college soccer since the beginning, but there’s a new look at the top of the league this fall.
Either Florida State or North Carolina has won the ACC tournament every year since 2013, with the Seminoles taking 10 of those trophies despite winning the regular-season title outright just once in that span. That streak ends this year, as No. 4 seed FSU fell in its opening match and longtime powerhouse UNC didn’t even make the six-team bracket.
Stanford and Notre Dame enter the postseason as the teams to beat. Each suffered only one loss in the regular season, with the lone Irish setback coming at Pitt in the regular-season finale.
The Cardinal and Irish have not faced each other this year, so an epic final could be on tap. But they have to get there first.
