Brandie Wilkerson is a Canadian beach volleyball icon. The right-side blocker won a silver medal at the Paris Summer Olympics in 2024. While she calls Toronto home now, she was born far from Canada. Wilkerson’s parents are former NBA draft pick Herb Johnson, and mom Stephanie, who was a national runner for Switzerland and a two-time Ironman finalist. Brandie Wilkerson wound up playing college volleyball at York University. The 5-foot-10 1/2, 33-year-old earned silver medals in the 2022 World Championships, and 2023 Pan American Games with Melissa Humana-Paredes. They had played together at York. The Humana-Paredes/Wilkerson team made it to the final in Paris before falling to Brazil in three sets.
