Steelers CB Jalen Ramsey shares true feelings about switch to safety ahead of Week 10

Pittsburgh Steelers DB Jalen Ramsey has revealed his honest feelings about switching to safety for the time being — and it’s just as difficult, according to the star defender.

Ramsey, who’s adjusting to a new role on defense, explained how tough the transition has been from primarily playing cornerback to free safety — but it’s nothing he can’t handle, based on his Week 9 success against the Indianapolis Colts.

“It’s definitely new, for sure,” Ramsey told reporters on Friday. “Before last week, I think the last time I played safety for a full game was like my freshman year in college. … So, it’s been a while. It’s definitely not just like riding a bike. It’s tough, but fun. I mean, I love football, so all pieces of it I enjoy and try to embrace.”

It’s no coincidence that the Steelers’ defense looked completely revitalized with Ramsey’s switch to free safety last Sunday — which is exactly what the coaching staff is hoping for once more against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10.

With Ramsey set to make his second start at free safety on Sunday Night Football, fans can watch all the action unfold between the Steelers and Chargers on November 9 at 8:20 p.m. EST.
