No. 3 Texas A&M (8-0, 5-0 SEC) will take on No. 22 Missouri (6-2, 2-2 SEC) on Saturday afternoon in Columbia, which will be the final leg of the Aggies’ three-game road trip that included wins over Arkansas and LSU. After the bye week, head coach Mike Elko is confident that his team will be ready to face one of the best defenses inside another loud stadium.
This week, Elko stated on multiple occasions that the Week 10 bye week came at a perfect time after blowing out the LSU Tigers 49-25 in Week 9, and even though the Aggies were highly impressive, head coach Brian Kelly’s dismissal took most of the national media oxygen, while Texas A&M’s 8-0 record continued to fly under the radar heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
On the field, for the Aggies to pull off their third consecutive road win, starting quarterback Marcel Reed will need to replicate his performance against Arkansas and stay poised in the pocket, knowing that A&M’s veteran offensive line will face one of the best pass rushes in the country.
On the other side, Texas A&M’s defensive line, led by senior edge Cashius Howell’s 9.5 sacks, will look to wreak havoc in the backfield against Missouri freshman quarterback Matt Zollers, who is making his first career start amid Beau Pribula’s injury. Mike Elko’s second-half adjustments will be key, but if the Aggies avoid mistakes, good results should follow.
