It’s okay, Gator Nation. The internet is a safe place to vent over Florida’s frustrating 38-7 loss to the Kentucky Wildcats, and there’s no shortage of hot takes.
Let’s start with the obvious: DJ Lagway is the target of most of the ire, fair or not. The former five-star quarterback hasn’t looked right all year, and his three first-half interceptions got him removed from the game in favor of true freshman Tramell Jones Jr.
Fans didn’t hold back as any hopes of bowl eligibility gradually slipped away while the score worsened. The Gators’ defense looked porous, too. Injuries have taken key pieces away from every level of the Gators’ defense, and Kentucky exploited that fact — both on the ground and in the air.
UF has now dropped back-to-back games under interim coach Billy Gonzales, and the pressure to finish the season strong is mounting.
Social media was buzzing Saturday night with everything from quarterback critiques to calls for patience as the team adjusts to yet another coaching transition.
Here’s how Gator Nation reacted online after another rough Saturday for Florida football.

People really thought Billy Napier was going to be able to develop DJ Lagway enough to save his job and get the program back on track. What did he teach this kid? Did he ever talk to him?

DJ Lagway is worse now than what he was fresh out of HS. His mental is broken. It will take prayer and therapy.

I just threw my glass table at my 65 inch TV, shattering both of them. This team has humiliated my entire family. My wife and kids are in tears as 40+ guests clear out of my house. Just threw my DJ Lagway jersey into the firepit. I can’t do this any longer. Goodbye Gator fans. pic.twitter.com/GinGKOC88x

I’ll never forget the preseason hype on DJ Lagway.

Florida benched DJ Lagway and LSU benched Garrett Nussmeier – two decisions which felt unfathomable three months ago. That’s the brutality of the SEC slate, and what injuries can do to a quarterback’s ability to perform.
Both quarterbacks should have better days moving forward,…

We are the worst team in the SEC with as much talent as the best teams.
I guess Scott Stricklin’s decision to hire a G5 Coach really paid off for Florida. It’s crazy Stricklin gets to choose the next HBC. Let’s fire him as well! #Gators#Florida#UF#BillyNapierpic.twitter.com/kduXm11kqy

Billy Napier really set this team back a decade. Should have been fired in 2024. Too much talent to be this bad. #Gators#UF#Florida#Napierpic.twitter.com/RNW0Obhk9v

Florida has been outscored 71-21 in their last 8 quarters of football in Lexington, Kentucky.
That is just crazy to me-a guy who didn’t see the Cats beat the Gators for his first 28 years on this planet.

Florida just lost to Kentucky by 31 points. Yet I have no doubt they will look like the 2008 Gators in 2 weeks when they play Tennessee in The Swamp.

Just so there’s no confusion whatsoever…..my Gators suck!!!!!!! #CollegeFootball#CollegeGameDay#football#cfb#Gatorspic.twitter.com/fAN7l7PY4S

Anyone remember after the Miami game when I said Florida was a 3-9 team at best? And at that time, I truly questioned where the other 2 wins were. Well, we got ‘em, so we’re done for the season. pic.twitter.com/mopGpZfVdD

The mindset of a true fan is to go down with the ship. Will always be that way. That being said, the football program is at an all time low. I don’t know where we go from here. 3 games left, play for the patch. Time to knock it down & rebuild.

LSU trying to be Florida so bad between firing their coach and benching their QB after the Gators already did.
Sad work. https://t.co/ZoQV4BnKBr

In what has to be Florida’s worst loss in at least a decade, the Gators fell 38-7 to a Kentucky squad that entered the game 3-5. UF falls to 3-6 (2-4) and now has to win the last three regular-season games in order to become bowl eligible. pic.twitter.com/V5wlxMPTzX

If you let a loser coach a team for four years, you get loser mentality top to bottom.
For the Gators to be this bad, even under the circumstances, reeks of a team with poor character, bad habits, and no resolve. Embarrassing.

Being a fan of the Florida Gators football team is quite depressing.
