ESPN's College GameDay is headed to Pittsburgh for Notre Dame's showdown with the Panthers

Notre Dame football naturally is always in the national spotlight, but the Fighting Irish will get extra special treatment this coming weekend.

ESPN’s College GameDay announced that this week’s show will resonate from Pittsburgh, where the Fighting Irish will take on Pat Narduzzi’s Panthers at Acrisure Stadium. This marks the show’s first visit to Pittsburgh since Thursday, September 1, 2022, when the Panthers defeated West Virginia, 38–31, in the return of the Backyard Brawl. Before that one, the last Saturday show occurred when the Panthers hosted Notre Dame on September 3, 2005.

Saturday’s show will mark the first College Football Playoff Top-25 matchup hosted by the Panthers in the CFP era. Additionally, legendary Pitt defensive lineman Aaron Donald will have his No. 97 jersey retired at halftime, and a special tribute is scheduled to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Tony Dorsett’s legendary 303-yard rushing performance against Notre Dame in 1975.

The Fighting Irish are now ranked No. 9 in the latest AP Top 25 poll. Marcus Freeman’s squad won its seventh in a row this past Saturday when it defeated Navy 49-10 to improve to 7-2.
