The New York Jets (2-7) went into their Week 9 bye with their first win of the 2025 NFL season when they beat the Cincinnati Bengals in an exciting fashion.
New York has been trying to salvage its season after trading away cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. Their latest test came against Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns (2-7).
The Jets beat the Browns on Sunday 27-20 despite rain pouring down on MetLife Stadium and the passing offense once again not showing up to the proceedings.
Running back Breece Hall stepped up for the entire New York offense as he made his contributions on the ground and through the air to help out quarterback Justin Fields, who did not have to throw much to win this game.
The Jets’ special teams deserves a medal for helping win this game as that unit essentially did the work to keep the team afloat being as the offense scored just one touchdown. With the Jets also showing more life in the fourth quarter of this game, it has to be exciting for any fans that were able to watch the game.
Here is Jets Wire’s stock report for Jets following Sunday’s win over the Browns
Stock Up: RB Breece Hall
As mentioned above, Hall did everything that the Jets asked of him as he punished the Browns with big plays on the ground and through the air. Hall ran the ball 21 times for 83 yards while catching his lone target for 42 yards and one touchdown, meaning that he accounted for 125 of New York’s 169 total yards against one of the best defenses in the league in Cleveland.
Stock Down: QB Justin Fields
Fields has been under a lot of scrutiny this season for the overall ineptitude of the Jets offense, especially after what he and the team put on display Sunday against the Browns. Fields threw the ball just 11 times for 54 yards, one touchdown, and one interception while also running seven times for 28 yards during a day where the rain did not let up at any point.
Stock Up: DE Will McDonald IV
McDonald had his career game on Sunday against the Brown as he relentlessly pressured quarterback Dillon Gabriel despite getting double-teamed at times. By the end of Sunday’s win, McDonald totaled five tackles (four solo), four sacks, four tackles for losses and was able to get to Gabriel five times over the course of what was a tough day for the rookie signal-caller.
Stock Down: DT Jowon Briggs
In the wake of Quinnen Williams being traded to the Dallas Cowboys, someone like Briggs is going to have to step up to provide the run stuffing and potential pass-rushing impact. Briggs was able to cause some disruption in the interior of the line and while he’s not expected to be the equivalent of Williams, Briggs finished with just two tackles against a Browns offensive line that allowed plenty of pressure.
Stock Up: Specials Teams
New York didn’t have much going on the offensive end and the special teams saw that and decided to make some plays happen to ease the burden. Jets running back Kene Nwangwu kicked things off with a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown before wide receiver Isaiah Williams ran back a 74-yard punt return for a touchdown to bring some fireworks for the fans.
