Texas A&M baseball has added its 11th commitment to the 2027 class, bringing even more athleticism to the outfield. Centerfielder Drake McClurg, from Greenwood, Indiana, announced via social media that he will begin his collegiate career in Bryan-College Station.
McClurg is a nationally ranked top-50 prospect and a natural in the outfield. His speed and arm strength make him an ideal fit in centerfield at the next level. He is a switch-hitter who is still developing power but possesses all the tools to bat in the top half of the lineup. In addition to being one of the best baseball players in his state, McClurg also excels on the football field, where he unfortunately suffered a season-ending injury that required surgery.
At the conclusion of his sophomore season, he posted a respectable slash line of .320/.461/.536 with 31 hits, 18 RBIs, and two home runs. Alongside being an All-State wide receiver, he was invited to the Prep Baseball Indiana Future Games, where he tested well and performed even better. McClurg flipped his commitment from Indiana University, choosing the Aggies over several other programs.
