Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Zay Jones will not play again this season. Head coach Jonathan Gannon announced on Monday that the veteran receiver was going to be placed on injured reserve with the Achilles injury he sustained on Sunday in the Cardinals’ 44-22 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Gannon confirmed what most believed happened when the injury occurred — he tore his Achilles.
He will miss the remainder of the season.
Jones was targeted once but did not have a catch in Seattle.
His season ends having played in eight games. He had 12 receptions for 183 yards on 18 targets.
He wasn’t the only receiver to get hurt. Simi Fehoko also was injured on Sunday, suffering an arm injury. Gannon said that he would miss some time, which could mean he will also be placed on IR.
That will give Xavier Weaver an opportunity over the final two months of the season.
