Nebraska (3-0) started up its second week of action on Tuesday night, hosting Maryland-Eastern Shore (1-3). Despite producing their lowest-scoring game of the season, the Huskers remained in control from start to finish, taking down the Hawks 69-50.
Nebraska finished 24-of-61 from the floor, only shooting 6-of-32 from three-point range. But Maryland Eastern Shore only landed 18-of-58 and 7-of-22, respectively. Free throws played a major part, with the Huskers shooting 15-of-18 while the Hawks hit 7-of-9. Nebraska also outstole the ball, earning 10 against its opponent’s two.
Pryce Sandfort and Sam Hoiberg led the charge for Nebraska, combining for 37 points after going 15-of-23 from the floor. Sandfort matched his Florida International outing, shooting 8-of-13 from the floor and 3-of-8 from beyond the arc to tally 19 points. He also secured a season-high five rebounds.
Hoiberg, meanwhile, scored a career-high 18 points in the win after going 7-of-10 from the floor. He also led Nebraska in rebounds with seven and steals with four. Berke Büyüktuncel finished with the third-most points for the Huskers, scoring eight after shooting 2-of-8 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line. He hauled six rebounds and a team-high three blocks as well.
Nebraska now hits the road for the first time this season, heading up north to take on the Oklahoma Sooners in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for a neutral-site matchup on Saturday night. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
