Following the practice squad signing of Asante Samuel Jr., the Pittsburgh Steelers released a recently signed safety to clear room for their new arrival.
On Tuesday, the Steelers released Darrick Forrest from their practice squad — marking the end of his short, two-week tenure with Pittsburgh.

Selected by the Commanders with the 163rd overall pick in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Forrest showed promise as a starter during his time in Washington before injuries derailed his early success.
Despite his impressive workout with Pittsburgh — one in which he powered through the flu to earn a spot on the Steelers’ practice squad — Forrest will now look for his next NFL opportunity elsewhere, while Pittsburgh gets a potential starting CB in Samuel.
