Nigeria can breath a sigh of relief as their 2026 World Cup playoffs campaign appears to be back on track following a players’ strike over unpaid bonuses.

The Super Eagles camp was in disarray just days before their crucial clash against Gabon, with players boycotting training on Tuesday in demand of payments dating back to 2019.

Now, captain William Troost-Ekong took to his X (Twitter) account to share the latest developments, stating that strike has been called off.

“Issue RESOLVED. Outstanding financials cleared and on ground. Team is UNITED and focused as before on representing NIGERIA with our maximum for the games ahead,” wrote the Super Eagles’ skipper.

The three-time African champions will be aiming to overcome Gabon in Rabat on Thursday, with the winner of the match set to advance to the final on Sunday.

In the other semi-final, Cameroon will square off against Democratic Republic of Congo. The winner of the mini-tournament will represent Africa in the global playoffs next year.
