The Oregon Ducks men’s basketball squad will be back in action on Wednesday night at Matthew Knight Arena for their third game of the 2025-26 season. After defeating Hawaii and Rice, they’ll do battle against the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, members of the Summit League.
The Jackrabbits enter with a 2-1 record, having beaten Merrimack and Dakota State before falling to Northern Iowa in their latest contest. Sophomore guard Jaden Jackson is their top player, as he’s averaging 17.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.
He’ll presumably be matched up against Ducks point guard Jackson Shelstad, who made his season debut against Rice and immediately gave the offense life. He had a major impact in freeing up center Nate Bittle, who followed up a so-so season-opener with a 25-point, eight-rebound, six-block performance.
With the third game of the season on the horizon, the Ducks need to improve upon several things: limiting turnovers, knocking down open three-pointers and playing to their own level, not to their opponents’. Coming in as heavy favorites against South Dakota State, we’ll see if they can improve upon those things.
