Forward Said El Mala is leaving the Germany senior camp and returning to the under-21 squad, the German Football Federation said on Saturday.
The 19-year-old Cologne player had been surprisingly called up by coach Julian Nagelsmann for the World Cup qualifier in Luxembourg but did not feature in the senior side’s 2-0 win.
Nagelsmann had already indicated that El Mala might travel to the under-21s after the match.
The junior side play in European Championship qualifying in Georgia on Tuesday.
The senior team meanwhile aim to secure direct World Cup qualification by not losing to Slovakia in Leipzig on Monday.
El Mala had made a good impression in training sessions, Nagelsmann had said.
He was partly called up because Karim Adeyemi was suspended against Luxembourg. Against Slovakia the Dortmund player is eligible again.
RB Leipzig’s Assan Ouédraogo remains in the squad for the final World Cup qualifier and could become the 21st debutant under Nagelsmann.
The attacking player was a late call-up to replace injured Mainz midfielder Nadiem Amiri.
