Michigan State hockey remains hot with yet another win, this time on Friday night over rival Notre Dame on the road.
The Spartans remained unbeaten in conference play and extended their impressive win streak in a series opening 4-1 victory over the Fighting Irish on Friday night from South Bend, Ind. Michigan State led 2-1 after the first two periods, but outscored Notre Dame by a pair of goals in the third to earn the win.
Porter Martone scored the first two goals of the night for the Spartans, giving Michigan State a 2-0 lead midway through the second period. The Fighting Irish would cut that Spartans’ lead in half with a late second period goal, but Maxim Strbak and Ryker Lee (empty net) would pick up goals in the final period to clinch the Michigan State win.
