No. 3 Texas A&M (9-0, 6-0 SEC) returns to Kyle Field for the first time in over a month to host South Carolina (3-6, 1-6 SEC) for an early 11:00 a.m. kickoff on Saturday afternoon. Coming off their second consecutive 20-plus point blowout road win after defeating Missouri 38-17 last weekend, the Aggies continue to look like one of the best teams in college football.
Still, none of this matters if Texas A&M falls to a lesser opponent late in the season, as South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer and veteran quarterback LaNorris Sellers would like nothing more than to pull off the upset after defeating the Aggies 44-20 in Williams-Brice Stadium this time last season.
That loss essentially ended A&M’s 2024 campaign, a loss that head coach Mike Elko and especially starting quarterback Marcel Reed have not forgotten. Reed, who has passed for an impressive 2,193 yards and 19 touchdowns, paired with 368 rushing yards and six scores, has played at a Heisman level and isn’t looking to slow down heading into the postseason.
Texas A&M’s 23rd-ranked defense, led by a pass rush that has produced 34 sacks, will face one of the worst offensive lines in the country, which has surrendered 33 sacks in nine games. Senior edge Cashius Howell leads the SEC with 10.5 sacks and will look to overwhelm whoever the Gamcocks start at left tackle.
Ahead of the game, Texas A&M’s media team released another well-produced pre-game hype video, which can be seen below.
