Can Alabama still make the College Football Playoff after Oklahoma loss?

Alabama suffered its second loss of the season on Saturday at home to Oklahoma, putting its 2025 College Football Playoff hopes in question.

Does the Week 12 loss eliminate the Crimson Tide from contention, or are there still viable paths for Alabama to make the field of playoff contenders?

SOUTH CAROLINA:Congrats to Shane Beamer on historic collapse

As of now, two-loss Alabama is still very much alive. If the team finishes the regular season with one of the top-2 spots in the SEC standings, it will qualify for the SEC championship game. Win that, and the Crimson Tide are locked.

If Alabama loses the SEC title game or misses it altogether, it’ll have to put its best foot forward to impress the College Football Playoff selection committee for an at-large bid, which means winning out at a minimum. Losing to Oklahoma probably won’t knock the Crimson Tide too far down in the committee’s view too much. Simply being Alabama has its perks, after all, and the Sooners entered Week 12 ranked No. 11.
