Former Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley has been accused of felony assault, according to online court records in Fort Bend County, Texas.
Court records indicate the official charge to be Assault Family/Household Impeding Breath in the third degree. USA TODAY, citing the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, reported that deputies were called to a home in Rosharon, Texas, a suburb of Houston, in reference to an assault on Friday morning, Nov. 14. Beverley was arrested.
Beverley was booked at the jail before posting $40,000 bail, USA TODAY reported.
Beverley, 37, played for the Bucks at the end of the 2023-24 season, his last season in the NBA.
He was acquired by the Bucks via a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers in February 2024 and the veteran provided a spark defensively to the team. But in his final game — a playoff loss to the Indiana Pacers — he twice threw a ball into the stands at Pacers fans, including hitting one in the head, behind the Bucks bench at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The NBA suspended Beverley four games to start the 2024-25 season but he never played again in the NBA.
Beverley’s X account issued two posts after being released from jail on Nov. 14.
The first read: “Please don’t believe everything you see on the internet. Hope all is well Luv”
A second message wrote: “Patrick Beverley has no criminal record. He cares deeply about his little sister — a young lady, a minor. Given that, when he unexpectedly found her alone in the home with an 18-year-old man in the middle of the night, he was understandably concerned, as any brother would be about his sister. We don’t believe what followed happened the way it’s been described and we look forward to the opportunity to address that in court.”

He last played professionally with a team in Israel. But like his NBA career, it ended with a suspension. Beverley was suspended by Hapoel Tel Aviv after a disagreement with his head coach and then posting about it on social media. A week later, he and the team went their separate ways.
Beverley played for seven NBA teams in 12 seasons.
In 26 games with the Bucks in the last two months of the 2023-24 season, Beverley averaged six points in 20.9 minutes, shot 39.1% from the field with 3.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
