Eagles vs. Lions: Takeaways from Philadelphia's 16-9 win over Detroit in Week 11

The Eagles are 8-2 and once again look like one of the best teams in the NFL after a hard-fought 16-9 win over the Detroit Lions (6-4). Philadelphia again proved they have a Super Bowl-caliber defense, while the offense was able to get A.J. Brown involved, as the wide receiver had seven catches for 49 yards (7.0) on 11 targets. Saquon Barkley had 83 yards, and Jalen Hurts made enough plays when it counted, despite playing one of his most inefficient games of the season.

On defense, Vic Fangio’s unit was led by the newly acquired Jaelan Phillips, who had another dominant night, Nakobe Dean, who was stout at the linebacker positions, Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, and Adoree Jackson.

With the Eagles set to begin preparation for the Cowboys in Week 12, we’re looking at instant analysis of

Jaelan Phillips is the monster

Midway through the third quarter, Phillips had five tackles, one sack, 2 QB hits, and 1 TFL. Overall, Phillips logged four total pressures, including one sack in Week 11, per PFF, and he has recorded 12 total pressures in his first two games with the Eagles.

Jordan Davis

The Peloton Don, Davis, had three passes defended.

Eagles are going to repeat as NFC East champs

The Eagles (8-2) are the only team in the NFC East with more than three wins and the second team in the conference to reach eight victories, putting them in contention to secure the top seed and earn home-field advantage early.

Saquon Barkley

Hurts threw for only 135 yards, while the reigning Offensive Player of the Year, Saquon Barkley, ran for 83 yards on 26 carries.

Jake Elliott

Philadelphia gained only one touchdown, meaning Elliott was responsible for the rest of the scoring. Elliott kicked field goals of 27 and 34 yards in the half. He made a 49-yarder in the fourth for a 16-6 lead.

Eagles made Jared Goff uncomfortable.

Goff — who went 14 of 37 for 255 yards —looked comfortable once on the night when he hit wide receiver Jameson Williams for a 40-yard score that tied the game at 6-6 in the second quarter.

Lane Johnson

Johnson was ruled out at halftime with a foot injury after exiting last week’s win against Green Bay with an ankle injury in the second quarter, but returned in the fourth.
