Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke with reporters during his postgame press conference, addressing the team’s chances of still winning the AFC West after the Week 11 loss to the Denver Broncos.
“It’s tough to get back in the division race, but at the end of the day, the goal is to get into the playoffs and try to make a run at it. And all you can focus on is next week,” said Mahomes, “We got to learn from this one as much as possible, knowing that we’re gonna get a great opponent coming into Arrowhead this next week. We’re kind of at that point where we’ve got to find a way to win football games, and we’ve got to keep moving forward. That’s what this league’s all about.”
Mahomes tossed a costly interception in the red zone during the second half that took a chance of points off the board for Kansas City while moving under heavy pressure. Denver capitalized on mistakes in the second half and made key plays on their game-winning drive.

“I mean, it sucks, don’t get me wrong, like you got to let you got to feel that, but you got to be able to kind of use that energy to push it into the to the next week, into the rest of the season, and all you get focused on is the next game,” said Mahomes, “You get another opportunity to go out there and improve yourself. And obviously we have. We’ve been losing these close games recently, but we’ve played some good football and spurts. It’s just about being more consistent.”
The Chiefs will host the AFC South-leading Indianapolis Colts in Week 12, with the stakes even higher as they try to keep pace in the Wild Card race.
