One Liverpool star has been advised to leave the club if he wants a brighter future. Decision time is coming.
We’re now over halfway through November, meaning the next transfer window is coming up quickly. Liverpool will be busy – there’s no way around that.
This squad isn’t clicking together, after all, despite the more than £400m spend across the summer window. The Reds need to tinker a little bit more, with both incomings and outgoings on the agenda.
One player who certainly faces an uncertain future is Federico Chiesa. The Italian arrived from Juventus at the start of last season but endured a difficult campaign.
Arne Slot barely used him – at first because of fitness concerns (Chiesa lacked a pre-season) and then because he didn’t seem to fit in with the plans. Just about everyone expected the winger to leave over the summer but he instead chose to stay.
And it’s been more of the same this season. Slot is yet to start Chiesa in a major fixture, instead limiting him to roughly 20 minutes at the end of matches or starts in the Carabao Cup.
That’s despite Chiesa’s numbers being magnificent, especially for a player who supposedly doesn’t fit in.
Federico Chiesa’s future
It’s a World Cup year and Chiesa is wanted by the Italian national team. However, they’re not sure they can take him if he’s not actually palying regular football.
And so Napoli Magazine reports that Gennaro Gattuso, the head coach of the Italian national team, has advised Chiesa to leave Liverpool. He feels he should return to Italy where he can play regularly and comfortably earn a place back in the Azzurri.
It’s unclear whether Chiesa is willing to give up on the Reds, however. After all, this was the advice from all corners back in the summer and he decided to stay.
