Michael Pittman makes pitch for Colts to re-sign Alec Pierce soon

Indianapolis Colts’ wide receiver Michael Pittman shared his thoughts on Alec Pierce’s contract situation.

Pierce is currently in the final year of his rookie deal, and he’s set to earn a good-sized payday this upcoming season — which Pittman is very much aware of.

“If we don’t sign him quick, I mean, that price keeps going up and he’s not going to slow down,” Pittman said on Monday.

ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler recently reported that teams he has talked to are anticipating Pierce to hit “the $20 million per year threshold isn’t out of the question for him.”

Pierce continues to be one of the most productive downfield threats in football. On the season, Pierce is averaging 20.9 yards per catch — the second-best mark in football.

But in addition to his vertical presence, Pierce’s role has expanded as well this season, with him being targeted more often at other levels of the field.

Pierce’s play this season has reportedly changed the Colts‘ outlook on potentially re-signing him.

Stephen Holder reported recently that, during this previous offseason, re-signing Pierce didn’t seem to be in the cards. However, since then, things have changed with the idea of Pierce returning to Indianapolis now being “very real.”

In addition to Pierce, here is a look at the Colts’ other free agents this upcoming offseason.
