Shots, blocks & boards: Vote for IndyStar girls basketball players of the week (Nov. 10-15)

IndyStar will be recognizing the top girls basketball players in Indiana with our players of the week poll.

Congratulations to Eminence’s Chloe Kirk on being voted IndyStar Player of the Week for Nov. 3-8! Kirk helped orchestrate a three-point win over Clay City, picking up 22 points on 9-of-22 shooting. She also pulled in three rebounds and blocked two shots. She had seven points, seven assists and nine steals in a rout of Indiana Math & Science.

Here were the top performers from the past week.

Addison Barnes, Delta

Barnes scored 24 points in a 35-point win over Alexandria, hitting 7-of-10 shots from the field, dishing out four assists and picking up three steals. She then closed out a 57-50 win over Connersville, going 6-for-6 at the line late in regulation as part of a 19-point performance.

Olivia Berzai, Bishop Chatard

Berzai shined against a pair of Class 4A opponents. She logged eight points, six rebounds, six assists, five steals and a block vs. Noblesville, then registered 21 points (8-of-15 shooting), 13 rebounds, five assists and five steals in a five-point OT loss to Gibson Southern.

Jailen Bowling, Brebeuf Jesuit

Bowling marked her junior season home opener with a double-double, registering 22 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Cathedral.

Ava Burkle, Rossville

Burkle surpassed 1,000 career points and led the Hornets to a season-opening win vs. Western Boone, registering 21 points, 12 rebounds and five steals. She followed that performance with 10 points, six rebounds and a couple steals in a five-point win over Fountain Central. 

Emma Coffman, Garrett

Coffman picked up 29 points on 10-of-15 shooting, nine steals and four assists vs. Heritage, then dropped 32 points in a win at New Haven.

Gabby Culp, University

The 5-9 senior led the Trailblazers to wins over Danville (15 points, six rebounds), Tri-West (10 points, 10 rebounds) and Muncie Central (22 points, 14 rebounds, four assists). She also totaled six assists and four blocks. 

Saniyah Davenport, Avon

The 5-3 freshman scored 23 points to help spark a win over Terre Haute North, then contributed six points to a 41-39 win over Brebeuf Jesuit.

Abrielle Dugan, Plainfield 

The junior led the Quakers to a hard-fought win over Brownsburg, scoring a team-high 18 points in the six-point win. She went for five points, dished out two assists and pulled in four rebounds in a win over county foe Danville.

Maryrose Felling, Triton Central

Felling opened the season with 25 points and seven rebounds vs. Heritage Christian, then went or 27 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals vs. Greenwood Christian Academy. The senior wrapped up her week by erupting for 31 points in a one-point loss to Eastern Hancock.

Alexa Harris, South Spencer

The junior registered 43 points on 14-of-17 shooting (9-of-12 from 3) against Evansville Harrison, then put up 16 points, six rebounds and three steals in a rout of Clarksville.

Gabby Helsom, Homestead

Helsom returned from injury and jumped right back into the groove of things, scoring 17 points and seven rebounds vs. Northridge on Wednesday, and 30 points and six rebounds vs. Pike on Saturday. She shot 16-for-23 from the floor and 7-for-11 from 3 for the week.

Adah Hupfer, Pendleton Heights

Hupfer compiled a pair of monster stat lines: 19 points, 15 rebounds, two steals and three blocks vs. New Castle, and 28 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and three blocks against Heritage Christian. Pendleton Heights travels to Lawrence Central on Wednesday, followed by weekend tilts vs. Greenfield-Central and Brownsburg.

Ally Hutchinson, Noblesville

The senior guard stuffed the stat sheet in a win over Bishop Chatard, registering 31 points, five rebounds, an assist, two steals and a block, then registered 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists in a win over Hamilton Heights.

Kenzie Koch, Eastern Hancock

Koch led the Royals to a one-point win over rival Triton Central, dropping a game-high 34 points. She’s averaging 29 points through her first three games. 

Elliot Leffler, Roncalli

Leffler’s scoring output increased with each game last week. She opened the season with 19 (plus four rebounds) vs. Columbus East, then helped the Royals pull away vs. Mt. Vernon with 20 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal, then matched her career-high vs. West Lafayette Harrison, scoring 32 points to go with four rebounds and seven steals.

Brynn Owens, Austin

Owens scored 43 points with seven triples in a 66-38 win over Christian Academy at the Hoosier Gym. She also tallied nine rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Emily Parker, Boonville

Parker broke her own single-game scoring record with 51 points in a 74-64 loss to Evansville Harrison. She also tied the school record with 10 triples. She also had 33 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a win over Pike Central.

Kylah Patterson, Hammond Morton

Morton went for 50 points on 20-of-28 shooting in a 97-19 win over Lake Stat ion Edison. She hit 5-of-9 3s and rounded out her line with 22 points, six assists, six steals and four blocks in 25 minutes. 

Katie Reed, Washington

The Hatchets standout posted three double-doubles, including a 19-point and 15-rebound effort vs. South Knox. She eclipsed 1,000 career points and pulled down 17 rebounds against Castle at The Battle at the First Capital in Corydon on Saturday. 

Paige Schnaus, Gibson Southern

Schnaus scored 14 points and pulled in nine rebounds in a 47-39 win over Castle, then went 29 points in an overtime win over Bishop Chatard.

Hallie Schwieterman, Jay County

Schwieterman contributed 14 points to a 62-16 rout of Fort Wayne South, then racked up 25 points in a loss to Hamilton Heights. 

Leah Shappell, Leo

The 6-foot senior nearly posted triple-doubles against Churubusco (21 points, 11 rebounds, nine steals, five assists) and Fort Wayne Wayne (25 points, 16 rebounds, nine assists, three steals, five blocks), then posted 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists, six steals and three blocks vs. Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian.

Alexa Sichting, Indian Creek

Sichting sparked a lopsided win over Speedway, posting a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds to go with six assists. She recorded another double-double in a loss to New Palestine, scoring 17 points and 15 rebonds. The senior also clocked nine blocks and five steals against the Dragons.

Elyse Snively, Heritage Christian

Snively registered 15 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block in the Eagles’ season opener vs. Triton Central, then helped her side cruise by Eastbrook, contributing 21 points, three rebounds, three assists, four steals and four blocks. 

Izzy Stillabower, Franklin

The sophomore knocked down five 3-pointers as part of a 30-point performance in a stirring win over defending Class 3A runner-up Greensburg, then posted 22 points and six assists to help take down Whiteland. Stillabower knocked down an additional six triples vs. the Warriors.

Olivia Stowers, Beech Grove

The Beech Grove standout scored 20 points on 53% shooting (4-for-8 from 3) in a loss to Whiteland, then scored 15 points on 67% shooting (3-for-6 from 3) in a win over Greenfield-Central. She also racked up 17 rebounds, seven steals and two assists.

Riley Suarez, Hamilton Heights

Suarez averaged 22.6 points and 6 rebounds over three games last week. She scored 19 (7-of-19 shooting) against Frankton, racked up 17 points (7-for-12 shooting, 3-for-3 from 3) and six boards against Noblesville, then posted the best performance of her young career vs. Jay County, racking up 32 points (14-of-18 shooting) and 10 rebounds in the win. 

Marley Warren, Trinity Lutheran

Warren scored 36 points vs. Shawe Memorial, two off the school record set by Ohio guard Bailey Tabeling. She drilled eight 3s as part of her near-record-setting performance.
