Inglewood (Calif.) junior defensive lineman Elija Harmon was part of a loaded Texas A&M visitor list over the weekend and the Aggies made a strong impression on the talented athlete.
Harmon has been active on the travel circuit this season. He visited Nebraska a few weeks ago, checked out Oklahoma earlier in the year and has been to USC a number of times.
The visit to College Station was Harmon’s first and likely won’t be his last.
“I had a great time there,” Harmon said. “I would say the best part of the visit was the game day atmosphere and how passionate the fan base is.
“Even when the team was down 23 at the half, the fans stayed and were still in to it and were a big reason for that win. Watching how the team was able to come together after one of their worst halves of the season was a great thing to see.”
Harmon said he was able to tour the campus as well.
“It’s a beautiful school,” Harmon said. “It’s one of the biggest campuses I’ve seen so far and I like it there a lot. I was able to talk with some of the guys on the team too, they recruit Cali hard but we had to leave the next day so I wasn’t able to spend as much time as I would have liked.
“I’m definitely going visit again in the off-season and I have a high interest. I have a list of schools I like a lot, Nebraska, Oklahoma and USC but A&M is right there with those guys right now too.”
Harmon is a four-star and rated the No. 152 player nationally in the Rivals Industry Ranking. He suffered a pre-season lower body injury and missed much of his junior season but when healthy, he’s a dominant tackle prospect who moves well, commands a double team and can manhandle an opposing guard or center.
