The Colorado Buffaloes are coming off their second bye week following a third straight loss, but there are things to look forward to.
Deion Sanders spoke to the media on Tuesday and discussed some silver linings for the Buffs as they head into the final two games of the season, including their final home game this weekend.
He talked about freshman quarterback Julian Lewis’ continued growth, as well as some personnel mistakes that he made in the lead-up to the season. Sanders also addressed a possible first NFL start for Shedeur and Colorado’s ongoing athletic director search following Rick George’s announcement that he is stepping down.
Here is everything Sanders had to say ahead of his team’s matchup against Arizona State.
Deion Sanders on Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham
Sanders: Can’t wait to get on the field Saturday. [Kenny] Dillingham, one of my classmates. What he’s done for that program is unbelievable. Well deserved, I think he was the Big 12 coach of the year [last season]. He’s got a quarterback down and still fighting through these storms.
Coach Prime on Colorado AD Rick George stepping down
Sanders: I love Rick to life. I don’t feel like I’m losing him because he’s still part of the program… We’ve talked extensively for a while about this decision he’s making. They have already started a search. They are going to make a great selection. I don’t doubt that.
Looking forward to supporting and working with @DeionSanders for a while. I love Deion to life! https://t.co/mvWqzZZzv9

Sanders on star freshman QB Julian Lewis
Sanders: This kid is starting to understand the game better mentally.
Sanders also added that Lewis stayed in Boulder during the bye and watched nine hours of film.
Sanders talks about his misses in player evaluation this past offseason
Sanders: I haven’t forgotten how to coach in a year. A lot of these wonderful coaches out there that’s not winning haven’t forgotten how to coach. We did some things that we shouldn’t have done.
It clearly sounds like Sanders and his staff will take a more comprehensive approach to the transfer portal this offseason.
“You’ve got the right man. I promise you, you do. And I’m going to prove that to you. Just give me an opportunity and a little more time and I’m going to prove that to you.” pic.twitter.com/60HuEGGdCy
