We’re off and running with the eleventh week of waiver wire pickups in fantasy football as Week 12 looms. But you might be thinking about which players on your roster to keep or to drop as you make those decisions.
That’s what this weekly column — a keep ’em or drop ’em debate — aims to help with. We’re going to focus on who you should hang on to or who you should definitely cut in order to pick up one of the intriguing names available.
A reminder to check out our weekly waiver wire post and our waiver wire tiers article with all the names you should look at picking up. Let’s dive in with names to potentially drop or to keep.
RB Nick Chubb, Houston Texans
At long last, the shift finally happened: Woody Marks is now RB1 in Houston. Chubb had just three carries and two targets in Week 11. Even if Marks gets hurt, we’ve seen Chubb be mediocre.
VERDICT: Drop him
RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Washington Commanders
Sigh. How the mighty preseason darling has fallen. Chris Rodriguez is RB1 at the moment in Washington, and “Bill” has gotten fewer opportunities. He’s unfortunately a keep here for now in case of injury, but he’ll be sitting on your bench for the foreseeable future.
VERDICT: Keep him
WR Khalil Shakir, Buffalo Bills
The thing about the Bills’ offense that’s infuriating is it’s Josh Allen, James Cook… and who knows week to week? That said, you still hold on to him for those games with higher volume, but know that it’ll be frustrating as always.
VERDICT: Keep him
TE T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings
If you’ve been holding out hope with him… well, it’s time to let go.
VERDICT: Drop him
RB Kyle Monangai, Chicago Bears
D’Andre Swift had 21 carries against the Vikings, but Monangai had 12. That’s nothing to sneeze at. Plus, he scored!
VERDICT: Keep him
QB Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks
Darnold is a perfect reminder that you can stream QBs and drop those who have struggled as of late, and those who have tough schedules coming up (that’s Darnold in both cases!).
VERDICT: Drop him
WR Garrett Wilson, New York Jets
He might be back from injury to catch throws from Tyrod Taylor… but is that really that palatable?
VERDICT: Drop him
